Australian High Tech Biometric Company Wins Exclusive U.S. Deal

Australian biometric company Bio Recognition Systems (BRS) (www.brsgrp.com) has signed a distribution deal with the United States's largest independent security technology company, General Lock (www.generallock.com) to represent BRS's fingerprint recognition door locks in the lucrative U.S., Canada and Mexico markets. This three-year contract, with a minimum value of several million dollars, gives BRS a high-profile, national distribution channel and premier positioning as the only biometric door lock the company will represent in the growing Americas market.

Under the terms of the exclusive distribution arrangement, BRS's BioLock+ fingerprint recognition lock will be rebranded under General Lock'ss private label, Helix 100 and distributed by Clark Security Products (www.clarksecurity.com). Clark -- who is also party to the deal -- is the US's largest wholesale distributor and installer of locking products, with 400 staff at 14 locations across the region and a customer base of more than 20,000 locksmiths, security, access and related trade professionals.

The genesis of this deal lies with BRS's BioLock+ being recognized at The Security Summit -- the U.S.'s high profile security professionals's annual conference -- in California, in June 2008. At the Summit, a panel of the most security industry'ss most senior executives judged the Australian designed and manufactured BioLock+ its 'sMost Innovative Security Product's in the prestigious sensor category.

Among judges was locking industry authority, Marshall Merrifield, the President and major shareholder of General Lock, the largest wholesale distributor and installer of commercial security hardware in the U.S. Mr. Merrifield immediately acknowledged the technology as ground-breaking and was confident it would underpin a new market for fingerprint biometric locks in general residential and commercial use across North America.

Within weeks, discussions commenced between Merrifield and BRS Chairman, Anthony Holman about distributing the product in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Following these initial discussions, General Lock engineers subjected the BioLock+ locks to thorough testing. Subsequently, several units were installed at General Lock'ss own offices in San Diego and the distribution deal confirmed.

Until the BioLock+, there was no biometric lock that met market needs for reliability, robustness and affordability, comments Merrifield.

This product resolves all of the issues that were blocking takeup of biometric locks. In addition, it is a well-designed unit that will complement just about any commercial or domestic setting.

Merrifield believes market acceptance of the BioLock+ is likely to be strong, despite the U.S.'s economic turmoil.

Overall, spending on security has not declined in the current environment. Of course most businesses and families are concerned about the state of their finances, but personal security is an ongoing priority.

As a consequence, while it is impossible to forecast demand precisely, I believe we will see good acceptance for robust, keyless biometric access control. Certainly, there was strong initial interest in the product when we unveiled it to a group of 1,000 dealers in California -- and we are confident that this will translate into concrete orders in the short to medium term, Mr. Merrifield added.

BRS Chairman, Anthony Holman said, This representation in the largest world market is a quantum leap that has the potential to take BRS to the world stage.

General Lock and Clark Security Products's leadership position in the locking industry in North America is legendary. When we met their management team we were very impressed by their proactive and pragmatic approach. This is an organization that gets things done -- and we are delighted to be working with them, he concluded.

The BioLock+, BRS's third generation biometric access control technology, incorporates significant advances such as the ability to operate completely stand-alone, with all functions controlled from the unit, or networked for multiple doors to a PC. The unit supports 30-50 finger templates and 20,000 log transactions in stand-alone mode (80-100 templates and log transactions in network mode) as well as a wide range of optional programs, such as duress, man-trap and lock-out mode. Key features include:

>    Simple to use, keyless entry -- you don'st have to carry anything -- just your finger

>    Reliable and robust

>    Weatherproof and dustproof (IP65 Certified), so can be used outside and even in harsh environments and temperatures (-18's176;C to 50's176;C)

>    Attractive zinc alloy design and provision for consumers to choose their own door hardware

>    Affordable pricing, which makes the unit suitable for domestic or office use.

Thousands of BRS fingerprint door security kits have already been installed in residential and business premises in 18 countries across the globe.

BRS's deal with General Lock represents the first time that the products have been formally represented in the Americas, a market that is tipped to grow to nearly U.S. $7.5 billion by 2012, with North America the largest market (Source: International Biometric Group, 2007).
