The Middle Fork serves up America's premier alpine whitewater experience, featuring 75 to 100 miles of pristine wilderness, exciting (but not death-defying) rapids, very clear water, excellent trout fishing, and natural hot springs. An above average snow pack and cool spring have combined to provide excellent water flow through the summer, making August trips more exciting than they have been in over ten years.
But non-westerners don't know about the great water, and seem to be putting off their trip to the west because of increased costs of getting there. "This is a year that Middle Fork boaters will be talking about for a long time," said Zach Collier, ECHO's general manager. "This is not a year to miss."
"We have had lots of our clients tell us that they are reluctant to come to Idaho this year, because of the uncertainty in the economy and high travel costs," says Collier. "This is very frustrating to us, because we have such good water. We decided to give people such a big discount because we don't want them to miss this special opportunity."
