New Novel is Blast to the Past About Fabulous 1950s
A Time Revisited: Blue Collar Boys and High School FootBall, Girls's8230; Rock 'sN's Roll by Mickey Beckham explores how failure in the time of football, Elvis Presley and the Cold War can still lead to success.
Author Mickey Beckham writes from experience and from the heart. He grew up in the 1950s, struggling with a learning disability that seemed to brand him for failure. But when he began the research for his exuberant coming-of-age novel, he tracked down friends he had not seen in over 40 years and found to his surprise that they had been as questioning and vulnerable as he had been back then.
This is a powerful novel about a young man navigating the worlds of football, rock and roll, first love and the terrible Korean War. Humorous and sometimes tragic, A Time Revisited may be about the past, but it has much to say about the present time and the future. War should never be tolerated, the book suggests, and great knowledge can come from failure. Warmly written and beautifully told, A Time Revisited is a book for all times.
