New Book Explores Fantastic Awe and Wonder
May 4, 2005 -- We all felt that special, deep-within-our-heart-and-soul thrill when Christopher Reeve took flight back in 1978. That special feeling, the one filled with awe and wonder, surfaces each time we witness something incredible, something fantastic. It is that feeling, one of awe and wonder that has been harnessed in the latest title from Coscom Entertainment, Elements of the Fantastic.
This is the first of Coscom Entertainment's themed annual anthologies, each year focusing on a specific theme within a genre, whether that is science fiction, horror, mystery, love or crime. This first year is science fiction, but it's more than just stories taking place in other worlds or times. It's about feeling, that sense of amazement that is only found in the best of science fiction and fantasy, the way your heart fills with life and you are tickled all over in an almost nerdy sort of way that makes you long for the tale to be true and makes you wish your life truly was like the one in the story.
Editor A.P. Fuchs wanted to give readers a chance to be amazed for the first time again and, like for all his books, hook a non-reading world into reading again.
"If you look at the movies of today, the majority released are focused on taking you to a world of the fantastic. A Series of Unfortunate Events, is a good example or the forthcoming Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The stories in Elements of the Fantastic are 'comic-booky' in that way, in that they all take place in a world that could not exist in our own. But what each holds is a point in the story where you sit there slack-jawed, completely staggered at the story's climatic scene. Each one in this book brings upon you that childlike wonder you experienced when you read or heard Peter Pan for the first time. These stories make the impossible seem possible and stun you in the process."
Coscom Entertainment is an innovative new press dedicated to bringing readers new stories and fresh ideas from the industries current and up-and-coming talent. This year it features stories by Matthew Moffett, Keith Gouveia, W. Bill Czolgosz, M.F. King, Thomas Canfield, and iHero Entertainment's Frank Fradella.
