Cree First Nations Missionary Reveals Syncretistic Teachings



In her newly released book, Redeeming Culture - The Other Side of the Coin ($13.99, paperback, 978-1-60477-706-2), Xulon Press author and Cree First Nations missionary Velma D. White says that increasing openness toward native people within the church has become prevalent in the last two decades. Many non-native churches, she says, are becoming aware of the injustices of the past concerning native people and are moved in their hearts toward them. They are endeavoring to make native people feel welcome in their churches and are beginning to realize the importance of their role within the body of Christ.

The question then becomes how do we reach the native population with the gospel of Christ One of those objectives is to welcome traditions of native culture within churches--which most Christian organizations already do--and share with them the love of Jesus. But with non-native ministries' confusion about this matter and native ministries' concern over some non-native ministries embracing those traditions, many questions are raised.
