Author Brings to Life The Struggles and Changes in One Vietnam Veterans Life



Life can change so quickly that it can be hard to catch your breath. For Lieutenant Steve Simmons, the protagonist in the novel "Monkey Pudding" (available from Crystal Dreams Publishing), one change after another leads Simmons from the jungles of Vietnam to the middle of a plot (back in the United States) to kill a beautiful woman. Using vivid combat scenes and imagery, the book brings to life the mental side of war. Author Jerry B. Pozner has created a powerful narrative that will leave the reader breathless until the very end.

The action in "Monkey Pudding" never completely stops. As the novel opens, Lieutenant Steve Simmons has been discharged wounded from the US Army and returns home from Vietnam a hero, only to find his wife in bed with another man. During the ensuing scuffle, his wife is pushed down a concrete stairwell and falls to her death. Following this incident, Simmons is sent to a VA hospital where he receives psychiatric treatment. It is only after his life is back in order and he begins a new job that he meets Christina, his wife's twin sister. The sisters were orphans and separated at birth, and neither one knew about the other. When it is revealed that there is a plot to kill Christina, Simmons hires Jack McKenzie, a flamboyant detective and his roommate in the VA clinic, to assist him in the pursuit of Christina's supposed assailants.

Pozner, who was born in New York City the day the stock market crashed and now resides in Hollywood, Florida, uses his experiences in the US Army during the Korean War to write Monkey Pudding. It was not until he retired that he turned his interest to writing novels and screenplays. The screenplay he adapted from "Monkey Pudding" has won various awards in several national screenplay contests and is available to interested agents or producers.
