Says Hasak, "My book aims to help others avoid some of the pitfalls I encountered in my cancer journey and to share stories to assist others in understanding psychological aspects of cancer. It brings to life how faith in Christ is paramount in facing the emotional, psychological, and spiritual challenges of being a breast cancer survivor with lymphedema."
As an employee of two pharmaceutical companies, Hasak has written medical patents and contracts for various treatments, including cancer drugs, for more than 24 years. That was what led her to win an award from a leading biotechnology firm for her written account of being treated with its breast cancer drug, Herceptin. In addition to this treatment, "I relied on my faith during this ordeal to survive, thrive, and raise three boys," the author says. Her helpful medical information and spiritual insights will resonate with not only breast cancer survivors, but also their families and caregivers.
