Author Works at Bringing Children and Parents Together Through the Magic of Reading
May 19, 2005 -- A yearning to learn the ways of the magician take our hero on a journey in which he saves and befriends The Spirit of the Forest, freeing her from the snarls and snares of a briar thicket. Discovering the magic that lies within his heart, the young prince leaves the Spirit with a small piece of himself and pledges to meet her again.
"The Spirit of the Forest was born shortly after my first son Joshua, my little miracle. When I was blessed with a second, Jarrett, I knew that dreams really did come true. I set about expressing this wonderful magical experience in words they would someday come to recognize and love - words about magic, miracles and dreams.
I have tried to help children, through an enchanted story, to find the magic in themselves, and understand the importance of others (and especially their mothers!
Creative time shouldn't be limited to an hour a week. That is what life taught me - I want to let kids know they should be creative all day long and there are ways to use creativity in problem solving in every day life. Its not all about crayons, glitter, and sports. Creativity is a fundamental life skill that everyone is capable of achieving.
If The Spirit of the Forest can make a child smile, or a parent curl up beside their son or daughter to read, then that's love, and I thank my little Prince and his angel for sharing some with us." -- Jillian Marie Curtis
