Cooking with BC Wine

May 22, 2005 -- Food and wine lovers in British Columbia can rejoice. The highly anticipated book Cooking with BC Wine will be released at the Chefs on Wine event held at Beban Park Auditorium in Nanaimo over the weekend of May 28, 29, 2005.

Cooking with BC Wine is a definitive guide to the wineries of British Columbia. As well as being chock full of essential winery information it contains more than 100 Cooking with BC Wine recipes. Recipes have been submitted by BC wineries using their own BC wine as a key ingredient. Some of the recipes shared are family secrets that are being published here for the first time; others have been made especially for the book by some of Canada's top executive chefs.

The book features scenic colour photography of BC along with food photography by Gary Faessler. It combines humour with interesting facts about the recipes and the wines that are used in them.

It is no secret that wine is big business in British Columbia. In 2003 BC wines generated more than $240 million in domestic sales. A government report published at the beginning of the millennium reported that more than 1 in 10 visitors to British Columbia visited a winery.

Now these visitors and residents alike can sit back and allow Cooking with BC Wine to take them on a culinary adventure through British Columbia Wine Country. The book will be available at wineries throughout the province, select bookstores, specialty wine shops, tourist gift stores or online at www.polyglotpublishing.com $1 From the sale of each book will be donated to Variety BC- The Children's Charity.
