Harry Potter Conference Planners Offer Fresh Voice to Media

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" hits bookstore shelves in less than a month and Potter mania grows increasingly intense as the July 16 release date nears. With the press eager to feed the public hunger for all things Harry, media outlets are surely scouring the country for a fresh voice or angle through which to examine the Harry Potter phenomenon.

There's no need, however, to waste precious time hunting for the perfect Potter fan to liven up a news story or television spot.

Lumos 2006: A Harry Potter Symposium offers up its staff of well-spoken, diverse and appropriately animated Potter aficionados to serve as spokespersons for adult Harry Potter fans across the country.

The entirely volunteer Lumos staff boasts a number of accomplished professionals and enthusiastic fans, most of whom are devoting much of their free time to planning and orchestrating this academic conference, which will be held July 27-30, 2006 in Las Vegas, NV. From librarians to academics, lawyers to accountants, students to homemakers, Lumos volunteers hail from just about every walk of life, with at least one thing in common - they love Harry Potter!

The following individuals are Lumos' official representatives and will be happy to aid the press in any capacity, be it for a television broadcast, newspaper story, magazine feature, or whatever else the media requires:

Lumos 2006: A Harry Potter Symposium is an academic conference geared toward adult fans of the Harry Potter series. It will feature two days of formal academic programming, as well as a number of more casual activities and presentations for fans of the novels.

The conference is the third in a highly successful series of academically-themed conferences from HP Education Fanon, Inc., a non-profit organization committed to producing events that combine a professional and academic focus with the light-hearted spirit of the Harry Potter series to please scholar and fan alike. Their first such effort was Nimbus - 2003, which took place July 2003 in Orlando, Florida and drew approximately six-hundred attendees.

Lumos 2006 is an unofficial event, and is not endorsed by Warner Bros., the Harry Potter book publishers or J.K. Rowling and her representatives.
