Michael Ernest Sweet named Poet Laureate for the Monarchist Society of America
Michael Ernest Sweet, a young Montreal Poet and writer has been named the official Poet Laureate for the Monarchist Society of America by Prince Manoutchehr M. Eskandari-Qajar the societies founder. In this official capacity Michael Ernest Sweet will be writing poetry for the society website, society special functions, and for some of the exiled royal houses represented by the society. His inaugural piece titled "our queen" is a perfect example of this poets wonderful, accessible poetic style.

This summer Sweet released his debut volume of poetry titled "ab ovo" which has already become a hit in many poetic circles. His work has been called "refreshing" for its precise but powerful language.
Prior to entering the poetic arena Michael Ernest Sweet was dedicated to the Canadian political scene serving an eighteen month term as President of the Nova Scotia Young Liberals, and then more than a year in the role as Senior Special Advisor to the youth President of the now defunct Progressive Conservatives.
Michael Sweet is also a member of the governor's committee at the Montreal Children's Hospital and plans to lead a fundraising project as editor of a children's anthology of poetry in the fall of 2005.
