Baby Boomers Remember When

A spate of media articles calling for baby boomers to move aside for the younger generation has, if you are one of the baby boomers, probably made you want to say 's8220;I remember in my day's8230;'s8221;. A new book, 'sI remember when's, may give baby boomers and older generations a chance to say exactly what it is they remember about their youth.

Publishing company, Legacy Books, wants people over 45 years of age to put what it is they remember most fondly about their youth in print to form an anthology of memories.

The book, 'sI remember when's, will contain essays, articles and poetry from people born before 1961. To the generation that can's8217;t imagine life without a mobile phone, then this is a chance to tell them what it was like to have only a dial-up phone, or maybe to not even have a house phone at all. That is, to put in print the things the 's8216;older's8217; generations think are important for the younger generation to know about, or even just the fun things they remember from their youth. Particularly things which aren's8217;t experienced today 's8211; riding bikes around the neighbourhood until the street lights came on, fireworks in the park, knowing your neighbours, and walking 's8216;miles's8217; to get to school.

Publisher, Julie Athanasiou, says they are looking to put into print those common memories that will one day no longer exist.

's8220;If you's8217;ve ever wanted to say to a kid, look I remember when we didn's8217;t have video games we use to find things to do, then this is a perfect opportunity to record those memories. I want the book to act as a permanent record of those average, everyday things that brought joy to peoples lives.

's8220;As a child I was always asking my parents and grandparents questions like, 's8216;How did you wash your clothes without a clothes washer's8217;, and 's8216;What did you do after dinner without a television's8217;. So, I hope this book will answer some of those questions for other kids. I would also hope that it might be something teachers can share with school children, and parents can share with their own kids, and say 's8216;Yes, I remember that, and I also remember we used to do this.'s8221;
