Desert Road Publishing Debuts Political Comedy The Yale Diaries

Desert Road Publishing is pleased to announce the release of the political comedy "The Yale Diaries" by David Miguel Estrada. The book will be available July 4, 2008 at www.davidmiguelestrada.com. For more information visit www.desertroadpublishing.com.

"The Yale Diaries" is a political comedy about the unlikely friendship between George W. Bush and John Kerry at Yale University in 1966. Kerry and Bush have taken an immediate disliking to one another. Little do they know they share an inextricable bond that makes all else in their lives trivial. That bond is the Brotherhood of Death, the Skull & Bones Society. When Margaret Lerner, a beautiful Yale undergrad, dies suspiciously, George and John become close friends while hiding the truth behind her murder. Cameos are made by Howard Dean, Bill Clinton, and Hillary Rodham when the only party they subscribed to was the kind that had lots of alcohol.

Estrada, a native of San Antonio, Texas, is a graduate of the College of Santa Fe. He has studied under screenwriter Christopher DeVore (Frances), Jonathan Wacks (Pow Wow Highway), and Moises Kaufman (The Laramie Project).

ShowBusiness Weekly calls him "a maverick writer-actor-director." Wendy Williams of NewYorkCool.com raves, "David Miguel Estrada is multi-talented." The Austin-American Statesman writes, "engaging throughout."

Estrada has had seven productions of his plays mounted in New York and Los Angeles including "You Ain't No Johnny Cash" and "God, Man, & Stan." Both plays are to be published later this year by Desert Road Publishing.

In a recent radio interview, Estrada expounded on the genesis of the play, stating, "We live in a culture of conspiracy. Our generation gets its juices flowing by trying to figure out what's going on behind closed doors. The work of a writer isn't much different from that of an investigator or a detective. We're trying to get the real story; the story that's hidden somewhere beneath the surface. And that's essentially what the play is about."
