From Living on the Streets with Three Children to Published Author

For perhaps the first time in years, author, T. Smith is finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. It is also the first time she can say with great certainty that everything truly does happen for a reason. The 32 year old author's8217;s life has been filled with adversity and obstacles, some of which were self-imposed. Daring to dream gave her hope and eventually changed her life forever.

By age 25 T. Smith's8217;s circumstances forced her and her 3 children to live in her car on the streets of Los Angeles, California. Determined not to ask for help for fear that her children would be taken away from her, Smith made the best of a very bad situation. With less than $100 to her name and pregnant with her fourth child (the product of a rape) Smith went to a convenient store and purchased a cooler, lunch meat, bread, a couple sodas, and chips so that she could feed her children. They bathed in restaurant bathrooms, her school-aged children did their homework in the park and they slept in church parking lots at night because she felt safer there. When the money ran out, Smith used a homemade sign that read 's8220;My kids need food and my baby needs diapers,'s8221; praying that someone with a heart would reach out to help and they did. She managed to raise enough money to feed her children and rent a hotel room until she was approved for welfare in California.

In March of 1999 T. Smith sat down and decided to write a novel, documenting the painful events of her life, appropriately entitled, 's8220;Miracles of my Mistakes.'s8221; Throughout all of her hardships she held on to her dream of writing an exceptional story that those with similar circumstances could learn from.

's8220;For some reason, seeing my life written down on paper hurt more than actually living it. When you's8217;re going through a bad situation, survival is the only thing on your mind. Reading my book helped me realize that I am a strong person and I am not my mistakes.'s8221;

T. Smith is a single mother of four children ages: 13, 10, 7, & 6. She has survived abandonment, being a runaway, teenage pregnancy, homelessness, abusive environments, rejection, trying to change, meeting new friends, and learning to trust. Through it all she learned a very valuable lesson: You can turn your mistakes into miracles!

's8220;Miracles of my Mistakes's8221; is an invigorating story that is based on the real life events of author, T. Smith. It is a story about a young woman's8217;s search for love, acceptance, her true purpose in life and most importantly, peace. As you journey through the life of the main character, Sandra, as she experiences the above-mentioned issues, T. Smith hopes that by hearing her story, the readers will learn some powerful, life-changing lessons of their own.
