Longest Running Hollywood Reality TV Publicist Charlie Barrett Marks...



Reality TV publicist Charlie Barrett (publicist credits at Charles Barrett 4, www.imdb.com) who heads The Barrett Company (www.thebarrettco.com) known in the Hollywood television industry for holding the record as the longest running and seamless service Reality TV publicist in the entertainment industry, marked his 13th season in December representing creators-producers of CBS's hit reality/adventure series The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race 14 will broadcast on CBS in 2009.



Since its premiere in 2001, The Amazing Race has picked up numerous Emmy Awards -- including its 6th consecutive win for Outstanding Reality Competition Award at the 60th Emmy Awards held on September 21. Series has also been honored with Producers Guild and Directors Guild awards, among other honors for creators - producers Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri. Other versions of The Amazing Race are now also being produced in Asia, South America and Israel.



Most recently Charlie (www.thebarrettco.com) assisted with media outreach and publicity for producers of the ABC reality series Oprah'ss Big Give for ABC Television, which broadcast earlier this year.



While at NBC from 1970s to the 1990s, Charlie Barrett broke new ground with television media, helping establish with the press the fledgling reality TV genre on network television with the debut in 1987 of the seminal reality hit series Unsolved Mysteries hosted by award winning actor Robert Stack.



Charlie Barrett launched his PR firm, The Barrett Company, in the early 1990s, after serving for more than 10 years with the National Broadcasting Company where he directed media relations and was publicist to Johnny Carson, Ed McMahon and The Tonight Show. He also served as the network publicist for NBC News's Today, the hit MGM TV series Fame with Debbie Allen, the popular Emmy winner comedy show SCTV Network (Second City Television) with John Candy, Catherine O'sHara as well as NBC'ss American Film Institute Life Achievement Award TV specials.



After setting up The Barrett Company, Charlie went on to work with clients Barbour-Langley Productions's hit Fox series Cops, playing a key role in bringing awards and media attention to the now veteran reality TV series. He also developed and executed PR campaigns for the company'ss Fox series Code 3 with host Gil Gerard. Charlie'ss 1990s reality TV credits also include Ed McMahon'ss Star Search, considered by many TV critics and other entertainment industry well-placed sources as the forerunner to today'ss hit series, American Idol.



Charlie has represented Emmy winning producer Peter Jones, known for his Turner Classic Movies and American Movie Classics documentary productions as well as TV producer-creator Larry O'sDaly of A's38;E'ss An Evening at the Improv, Comedy on the Road and the cable TV series Girls's Night Out for Lifetime Television.



In the 1998-2000 television seasons, Charlie managed media outreach and coverage for Paramount Domestic Television'ss reality adventure series Wild Things.



The Barrett Company is based in Los Angeles and is known for its specialized media outreach and coverage campaigns in reality television as well as select independent and documentary films such as the award winning feature documentary Ever Again with Kevin Costner from the Simon Wiesenthal Center to multi-Oscar winner film producer John Daly, whose credits include such well known films as The Last Emperor, Platoon, Hoosiers to actor-director-producer Gary Conway'ss (Burkes Law) feature drama A Woman'ss Story with Erin Gray and Ken McCord to the Breckinridge (CO) Film Festival winner film The Indian.



The Barrett Company also directed media attention for the Beverly Hills Film Festival, Temecula Film Festival, San Diego World Film Festival as well as numerous celebrity biography books on such luminaries as Groucho Marx to Frank Sinatra (Under My Skin by Julie Sinatra) to producer Marty Jurow'ss book See 'sIn Stars (Jurow is producer of such films as Breakfast at Tiffany'ss starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard to Blake Edwards's feature The Great Race With Tony Curtis).
