One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest by Ken Kesey Inspires Ami Amara to write...

Jason Hobson loves his wife, Bernie, but he can'st cope with her schizophrenic illness. She has been moved to a secure Ward. Jason repairs TV'ss and on that day he wishes he could repair her, too. He finds her on the floor, a still figure curled up like a baby making no sound. He cannot reach her; she fails to recognise him. They are alonetogether. He'ss terrified that he'ss lost her for good.



He misses the girl he once knew; now he is left with only memories. He is drinking more and more. Alone at Christmas, he looks at photos of Bernie for signs of her illness - but he can'st find any. He cries because he desperately wants to help her but knows at the same time that he can'st cope. In hospital Bernie is crying, too. They are as if united in their sorrow and grief, bonded by a love that can only express its opposite - alonetogether. Jason is going under fast. Concerned for his own mental state, he begs her for a divorce. She refuses. Jason is after all her Caregiver and she needs him. Instead, she threatens suicide if he ever attempts to leave her. Jason is trapped. There is no exit from his hell. He finds himself totally alone without support. There does not seem to be anyone out there for him. Who cares for the Caregiver
