Deputy Tyler Musler is recovering at home from injuries sustained in his last adventure when he is summoned by the Judge for an important assignment. When asked, Mr. Chandler lets us in on some of the dynamics of this new story. 's8220;Tyler is torn by his obligation to his family, and the need to do his job. It only makes his decision harder when he finds out who he will be going after.'s8221;



The Judge wants him to find two former Deputies who have turned their back on justice and now ride the outlaw trail. Saddled alongside him in his endeavors are two men, Deputies to be exact, that he knows little about. He soon comes to realize that one of the men he has brought along is like a father to the men they are hunting. Mixed in with this growing storm is the fact that the Territory he is riding into is falling into a range war.



When talking to the author, we asked him why he felt it was necessary to bring back the Marshal. 's8220;The African-American Deputies of that time period represent a true anomaly in American history. When many African-Americans were still shadowed by slavery, persecuted for the color of their skin, and looked upon as a race that was beneath everyone else, you had these dark skinned law officers dispensing justice in Indian Territory (later day Oklahoma). The complexities of what they went through are what I like to write about, but mostly I's8217;m just thrilled to have the opportunity to put out another book so that fans of the first get a second chance to connect with the character.'s8221;
