Trafalgar 200 Through the Lens 's8211; Queen Elizabeth II 80th Birthday Edition is an independent photographic record of the year of Trafalgar 200 (2005) and events up to and including
the Review of the International Fleet by HRH Queen Elizabeth and the finale of Fireworks during the re-enactment of the Battle of Trafalgar.
The book; 174 pages, 400 photographs contains images that have never been printed before and is the most comprehensive known work on Trafalgar 200 by a single photographer. Featuring HRH
Queen Elizabeth onboard HMS Endurance, Admirals, Sailors, Warships and Tall Ships from the UK, USA, Japan, Russia, Poland, Germany, France and many other participating countries it is
likely to attract worldwide interest from historians and naval enthusiasts.
DP Kilfeather decided to self-publish the First Edition of Trafalgar 200 after it became clear that selling the book's8217;s pictorial concepts to established publishing companies would
require almost as much work as completing the book himself. Kilfeather sees the major advantages of self-publishing as more intimate connection with readers and control of future
editions. However a disadvantage is the very high cost of print-on-demand precludes selling the book through the high street and other retail majors, which mostly demand book discounts in
excess of 60%. For Trafalgar 200 this would be significantly below the price that Kilfeather has to pay for the book. Kilfeather's8217;s solution is initially to sell the book through his
own website and through lulu.com.
