February 7, 2005 -- WBO World Heavyweight Champion, Lamon Brewster, is set to defend his title against Andrew Golota on April 16, at Chicago's United Center. The fight will be broadcast
on HBO.
This will be Golota's third attempt at a heavyweight title, losing previously to IBF champion Chris Byrd and WBA title holder John Ruiz. The affable Brewster 31-2, (27 KOs) obtained his
world heavyweight belt by knocking out the highly regarded Wladimir Klitschko on April 10, 2004, and successfully defended his title against Kali Meehan in September, however not without
controversy. He has fully recovered from the cheekbone injury sustained in the eight round of the Meehan bout and is anxious to set the record straight. "Having this belt really means a
lot to me. I can't wait to get back in the ring and show that the Meehan fight wasn't really me," Brewster said recently.
With Brewster anxious to prove the naysayers wrong and demonstrate to the world that he is a true heavyweight champion, Brewster v Golota promises to be an intense and exciting battle in
the ring. Brewster started training in January and has picked up the services of the well-respected Jesse Reid, renowned trainer of the likes of Johnny Tapia, Lou Savarese and Mike
Tyson.
