CableFAX: The Magazine has named the 2008 Top 10 Places to Work in Cable, among them Cox, Discovery, Turner, ESPN, Charter and Bresnan Communications. The juxtaposition of a faltering economy and more pressure on employers and employees makes this year's edition of the highly anticipated Top Places to Work a particularly timely and useful guide to workplace morale.
The July issue of CableFAX (www.cablefaxmag.com): The Magazine, from the publishers of CableFAX Daily, also includes the Top Operators in Cable
and topical features, such as an exclusive interview with Mark Cuban of HDNet, who discusses how the American consumer is being defrauded on HD by big media and about what he'd do if he
ran NCTA for a day.
The Top 10 Places to Work in Cable, which can be found at cable360.net/cablefaxmag/independent_operators/30813.html (http://www.cable360.net/cablefaxmag/independent_operators/30813.html), was culled from nominations from
employees, recommendations from industry experts and research by the CableFAX staff.
Among the top places to work was Comcast, which as CableFAX Magazine Editorial Director Seth Arenstein notes: "With layoffs being a major concern of cable employees, it's good to work for
the largest MSO, Comcast, as there's little chance of job cuts due to acquisition of the company. In addition, Comcast is a leader in diversity, with 20% of its executive team being
minorities and 35% being women."
Also on the list is Discovery Communications, which despite layoffs is perennially progressive and continues to lead in employee benefits, providing full- and part-time employees benefits
immediately upon hire.
CableFAX: The Magazine's July issue (http://www.cable360.net/cablefaxmag/independent_operators/30813.html)includes profiles of the Top 10 cable
workplaces along with features on the most outstanding independent operators and MSOs. Read the issue at www.cablefaxmag.com or contact Client
Services at 888-777-5814 to receive an issue. The next issue of CableFAX: The Magazine will explore diversity in the cable industry, profiling the most influential minorities in cable.
