The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), Northwest Arkansas Council 754 is please to announce the following:
Virginia Ferrer, a student at Bentonville High School, was selected to attend the 21st Annual LULAC Washington Youth Leadership Seminar September 28th - October 2, 2005 in Washington,
D.C. She is the daughter of Miguel Ferrer and Maritza Viera-Ferrer of Bentonville.
Ferrer was selected amongst applications accepted from high schools in the Northwest Arkansas area. Criteria included the application as well as parental and principal approval. The
students were also required to write an essay on this year's theme: " Futuro Seguro: The Future of Social Security.
Ferrer will fly round-trip to Washington, D.C. courtesy of American Airlines and American Eagle. Council 754 will provide the student $100.00 for expenses. The LULAC National Education
Service Centers (LNESC), who is administering the program, will be providing lodging for the students.
NWA Council 754 serves as the flagship council in the LULAC NWA District.
NWA Council 754 was founded in February 2001. NWA Council 754 has awarded 59 scholarships totaling more than $65,000.
