MuttShack Animal Rescue say TwentyFive Percent of Purebred Dogs End...

June 25, 2005 -- People should consider why they want a purebred, as opposed to a mix breed. According to MuttShack Animal Rescue, "There is nothing a mix breed puppy cannot offer you in terms of love, companionship and devotion that is the sole province of a pure breed, and there are many dogs already born, looking for homes. Some people will want a purebred because it conveys some symbol of status on them."    




MuttShack Animal Rescue says, people like to have the "designer" name much like the latest jeans, or fanciful item. For example, the 101 Dalmation movie created thousands of abandoned dogs when the rage passed. Similar trends are "Taco Bell" or "Paris Hilton" dogs. Or "Pit Bulls" to boost an image of machismo. Dogs are not commodities. Choose your dog, like you would choose a husband or wife. It is a relationship commitment not a "purchase" which can be discarded when the style changes. The public mood is turning to disgust for people who buy and discard animals like commodities. (Read Disposable Animals. By Craig Brestrup). Consider too that purebreds are prone to many illnesses caused by inbreeding, and less healthy than a mix breed.
