Bill Diggs, President and CEO of the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce since 2005, was recently named in the 2008 Miami Ultimate CEO Awards given and covered by the South Florida Business Journal. The daily journal offers the latest breaking business news in the South Florida area.
The article, titled "2008 Miami Ultimate CEO Awards," named Diggs amongst the recipients and provided detailed information on his background in the industry. Diggs works with aspiring
small-business owners and tells them entrepreneurship is part faith, perseverance and insanity. "After all, as a former entrepreneur himself, Diggs knows how hard it is for minorities to
launch, fund and run a business," wrote the South Florida Business Journal. "He heard the jabs from others who questioned his sanity. And he's confident faith pulls the strong through."
Success at the chamber comes in retaining and attracting businesses to its 400 members. Diggs is responsible for consulting with elected officials and public and private corporation CEOs
to ensure that the minority business community can succeed and thrive.
Diggs also hosts a weekly radio show and writes a syndicated newspaper column. He speaks at various high schools, business conferences and youth conventions. He was also named an Emerging
Leader of the Year in 2005 by the Florida Minority Business Development Agency and was named one of Miami's 12 Outstanding Men by the Ronald McDonald House in 2006.
