Two Writers Turn Side Business Into Full Time Affair

JL Rowlett and Helene have been ghostwriters for years, happily writing thousands of articles and e-books for other people to put their names on. Then, a longtime client asked them to write a special story as an anniversary gift describing their first romantic encounter on their wedding night. The writers found it odd but it was a nice change from writing about dentures, travel destinations and product reviews.



We weren'st sure how to handle the request, said Helene who added, but after creating a questionnaire of sorts, which we still use, it was easy to put together a great story just by asking a few questions.



We had a lot of joking banter like:Dear Penthouse, I never thought this would happen to me and The night was sultry before we got serious and wrote an outstanding piece for our client to give as a gift.



The story was completed and the client and his wife were thrilled. This led to referrals until the business of writing personalized stories grew to the point it rivaled their ghostwriting business and it still wasn'st advertised beyond word of mouth by satisfied customers.



The writers decided it was time for their writing service to have a life of its own and they started the Velvet Diary online. The website has been newly redesigned to be even easier to navigate and JL and Helene are working on making not only written customized stories available but also Podcasts of stories as read by both male and female voice professionals. Helene added, 's8220;We are also working on creating a database of stories, with new stories added every week that can be accessed for a nominal fee.
