Faced with the dilemma of either searching for an agent, or finding another publisher, she decided to form her own publishing company. After extensive research and planning, Ms. Villarreal launched Freeland Publishing in January of this year.
"I was extremely proud when Whispers in Time was released, and was just finishing my second novel when everything fell apart," said Ms. Villarreal. "I needed to get my book back in circulation, but wanted it done right the second time around. My initial goal was to sell books, but then I realized there were other hard-working, talented writers who could benefit from my experience. I wanted to be able to give other authors the same sense of pride and accomplishment I felt when my first book was published."
In comparison to several other online publishers, Freeland Publishing offers services bundled into one standard package at a lower cost, rather than charging separately for each of the important steps to getting a book published.
Besides writing, Ms. Villarreal brings with her over 17 years of experience in the field of information technology. This includes computer programming, web page design, graphic design, database development, statistical reporting, email marketing, and desktop publishing.
Her newly released second edition of Whispers in Time ($14.95, Freeland Publishing), is the story of Gabriella Delacruz, a modern-day woman sent back in time to nineteenth-century England.
