Dazzling Boot Camp for Creative Writers is offered by Kate Rizor, author of The Governor'ss Wife.



This fiction writing workshop will take place over six weeks of sessions and will be led by Stargazer Press author Kate Rizor.



Typically, workshops of this calibre encourage writers to work toward new work. However, Kate Rizor'ss workshop on Advanced Fiction Techniques will focus soley on improving people'ss own manuscripts, already in process.



We want to improve people'ss own manuscripts in this hands-on course, says Rizor in her press release.



Rizor will offer hands-on guidance through lectures, exercises, workshops with a heavy focus on the revision process. Students will delve page-by-page into their manuscript to find its weaknesses, learn how to make it more irresistible to agents or editors, and discover why it isn's8217;t selling.



Rizor will also teach advanced techniques to move their fiction to the next level. A focus will be considering a writer'ss manuscript through the eyes of an agent or editor. In the process, creative writers will learn how to avoid the slush pile to make their manuscript more salable, and reduce time-wasted rewrites.



This course will also focus on the publication process, including such topics as the query and how to submit a manscript. Rizor'ss six week course informs and enables creative writers to make their work more marketable by crafting attention-grabbing query letters.



The class will take place on Monday's8217;s from 6-8 p.m. beginning September 25 through October 30, 2006 at Portage Public Schools's8217; Community Education Center, 1010 West Milham. The cost is $80.
