New author Joe Wood claims in his new work, Ugly Water, that everything you thought you knew about Black History could be wrong.
In his recently released work, Ugly Water (2006) Lulu Publishing, Wood uncovers a forgotten event in St. Louis history; the 1894 lynching of a black man in Valley Park, MO. In it, he
reveals a unique and chilling story that contradicts many contemporary views on the history of lynching--and of race in American History.
Wood examines the incident through the use of vintage editorials and recollections, state records, interviews and newspaper reports. The book explores the event in the larger context of
Race, Justice, and its role in a larger story concerning the town in which it happened.
This is a story that has not yet been told. A surprising and ironic tale from the forgotten pages of American history.
