in the boot of your car should you get stuck in bad weather.

IMPORTANT TIP - Never leave your car running and unattended in the morning. If your car is stolen while your keys are in the ignition you will NOT be covered on your car insurance.

Be aware of stopping distances in icy conditions, up to ten times longer than under normal driving conditions. Drive in as high a gear as possible to avoid wheel spinning, manoeuvre gently, avoid harsh braking and if you do skid do not apply the breaks sharply, but ease off the accelerator.

Should you have an accident contact your insurance company as soon as possible to register your claim.
