Earlier this year, se2 was selected as a Computerworld Honors Program 2009 Laureate for its development of a new software solution, 403(b)connect (http://se2.com/403b/index.htm). On June 1, se2 was selected as the Computerworld Honors award winner in the category of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate, beating all entries around the globe. Recipients of the Program'ss Leadership, Finalist and 21st Century Achievement Awards were unveiled at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.

Since 1958, schoolteachers, nurses, doctors, librarians, clergy and other employees of educational institutions and non-profits have been saving for retirement using tax-deferred 403(b) plans, said se2 Chief Technical Officer, Brent Littleton. However, for most of their existence, 403(b) plans had little regulation or oversight. Stories of astronomical fees, inappropriate investments and unreasonable restrictions were common.

New IRS regulations (http://se2.com/403b/index.htm) effective January 1, 2009, require school districts and other employers in the market to take responsibility for their 403(b) plans. Moreover, every 403(b) account must be linked to a plan. As plan sponsors, the employers must establish plan document rules governing eligibility, contributions, withdrawals, loans, etc., that apply to all plan participants. se2'ss 403(b)connect product does just that.
