Hubli Cancer Institute Gets Tech Push
April 30 2005 Polyclone Bioservices has signed up an MoU with the Karnataka Cancer Research Institute Hubli on 24th April during Bangalore Bio 2005 to establish a research unit for collaborative research in cancer genomics diagnostics and clinical investigation
The aim is to provide diagnostics at the early stages for detection of tumour and classify them for initiating the right treatment says Mr Naveen Kulkarni Director of Polyclone We are a molecular biology company providing services in gene expression studies and proteomics by way of microarray spotting and hybridisation
During the conference Mr Naveen Kulkarni spoke about Research Information Systems critical for drug discovery organisations and how to maximise them using the Semantic Web RDF and Life Science Identifiers He also said that they are now discussing with to partner with informatics companies to jointly implement the pilot system at the Cancer Institute as well as various pharmaceutical companies globally
We have been doing investigations till the tissue level so far and with the advent of Polyclone our institute will now be able to study cancer at molecular and genomic levels said Dr Umesh Hallikeri of Karnatak Cancer Institute
