When John Kenyon started his landscaping company in 1981, he wanted to give it a name that was immediate and which popped in the heads of potential customers. The name was one of those 1970'ss staples that sounded good at the time, laughs Kenyon.

He landed on Sundance Landscaping, a Redmond, Washington based independent business that specializes in Landscape Architecture and Construction. Unlike most construction and landscaping companies, Sundance has an emphasis on a more holistic architectural design, placing the importance on utilizing an inside-outside space, a trait that Kenyon picked up on while studying in Japan. In Buddhist philosophy, peoples's lives aren'st viewed as compartmentalized like they are in a Christian-Judeo way. There is no separation of Man and Nature, they embrace more of a Both and approach.

By breaking down the proverbial wall of separation, the designs that Sundance creates for their customers reflect a serenity and beauty that is native to the Pacific Northwest.

Our outdoor living designs have become popular on the West Coast, explains Kenyon. People realized that if they have an indoor-outdoor space, they get an extra three months of use out of their patios. There are fire rocks, fireplaces, outdoor kitchens and you can incorporate Nana Doors or Architectural Curtains to block the wind.
