He landed on Sundance Landscaping, a Redmond, Washington based independent business that specializes in Landscape Architecture and Construction. Unlike most construction and landscaping companies, Sundance has an emphasis on a more holistic architectural design, placing the importance on utilizing an inside-outside space, a trait that Kenyon picked up on while studying in Japan. In Buddhist philosophy, peoples's lives aren'st viewed as compartmentalized like they are in a Christian-Judeo way. There is no separation of Man and Nature, they embrace more of a Both and approach.
By breaking down the proverbial wall of separation, the designs that Sundance creates for their customers reflect a serenity and beauty that is native to the Pacific Northwest.
Though not all of their inspiration comes from Japan, the influence of building around the splendor of nature shows in their work, which can be viewed on their website, www.SundanceLandscaping.com.
Our outdoor living designs have become popular on the West Coast, explains Kenyon. People realized that if they have an indoor-outdoor space, they get an extra three months of use out of their patios. There are fire rocks, fireplaces, outdoor kitchens and you can incorporate Nana Doors or Architectural Curtains to block the wind.
In addition to featuring some beautiful examples of their work on their website, Sundance has recently added a blog (www.Bellevue-Landscaping.com) that goes into detail about some of their recent work.
Throughout their 27 years in business, Sundance Landscaping has won several awards such as The Best Landscape at the popular Street of Dreams and Washington Association of Landscape Professionals; their work has also been featured in magazines such as Sunset, Better Homes and Gardens, and Architectural Digest. With their steady work and increasing popularity, Kenyon insists that project size is never a factor. Our gardens range in scale, from small courtyards to large estates. We'sre similar to Frank Lloyd Wright in the way we integrate the design concept into every element that makes up the space, structures, hardscapes, water features, or furniture, every detail supports the design concept. We specialize in outdoor living.
