Jyco Looks to Expand TPV weatherseal Business With Japanese OEM Transplants
Jyco Sealing Technologies is positioning its North American operations to do more automotive weathersealing business directly with Japanese transplants in North America.
The Michigan-based company has named Jin Kameyama as Executive Account Manager, Japanese OEMs for its North American operations. Kameyama joins Jyco after 27 years with Mitsubishi, where he was testing manager and, most recently, Mitsubishi'ss Senior Manager of Testing at Mitsubishi Motors R&D of America, Inc. (MRDA), Ann Arbor.
It is exciting to join
the company that'ss leading the shift to TPV in North America, comments Kameyama. The clean processing and 100% recyclability of JyFlex TPV (
the company 'ss proprietary thermoplastic vulcanizate compound) already meet Japan'ss and Europe'ss stricter environmental standards. The added benefits in performance, lighter weight and potential cost advantages make it very attractive to all OEMs.
Since its founding in 2000, Jyco has established itself as a world leader in TPV weatherseal design, engineering and process technology for automotive, heavy truck and RV applications.
Jin will be a great technical asset to us in every step of product development, from prototyping and testing through manufacturing, notes Shawn Jyawook, Jyco'ss chief operations officer. Jin will also be our cultural liaison in our day-to-day customer relations with the transplants.
Kameyama should help to strengthen Jyco'ss ties with the transplants, although it is not completely new territory for
the company . Jyco has been supplying compound as a tier two supplier to Japanese OEMs in North America for several years. The company'ss Jyco Asia affiliate also has overseas production contracts with Asian OEMs through an engineering center in Nogoya, Japan, and a manufacturing plant in Shanghai. Announced in January 2005, the Jyco Asia joint venture with Inoac Corporation was automotive industry'ss first global alliance for producing TPV sealing systems.
Jyco also has operations in Belgium, Canada, and Latin America.
