CHEMTECH Celebrates 30 Glorious Years of the Indian Chemical Industry with CHEMTECH 2005
February 3, 2005 -- CHEMTECH + PHARMA WORLD EXPO 2005, the 22nd International Exhibition and Conference encompassing the Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals & Environment sectors will be held in Mumbai from February 8-12, 2005. Supported by the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India and the US Commercial Service, CHEMTECH 2005 will concurrently host Biotech, EnvironWater, Polymertech, Automation & Control World Expos respectively, and the Global Innovation Summit 2005.
CHEMTECH 2005, organized by CHEMTECH Foundation, India's leading industry association, will display state-of-the-art technologies, equipment, accessories and services from national and international players in each sector. The concurrent international conferences will deliberate on issues of topical interest to practicing professionals.
CHEMTECH 2005 has participation from over 500 exhibitors and 150 speakers in 15 conferences. 50 international speakers are also expected at the conferences. Visitors and delegation from over 22 countries are expected to participate in the event.
Towards its endeavour to create an atmosphere conducive to the spirit of innovation, Chemtech 2005 commemorates its 30th year by launching a concept called "Future Leaders". Around 300 students from various technical institutes across the country will be invited, mentored by industry stalwarts. Exposure to the international conferences will give the students access to the latest in the field of Pharma-Bio, Chemicals and Automation & Control sectors.
The Indian chemical industry, a major sector of the economy, has a market size of USD 30 billion, growing at 10% per year. It constitutes 6.7% of India's GDP and about 1.9% of exports. By 2010, the industry growth is projected at USD 60 billion. Likewise, the Rs. 25,000 crore (USD 5 billion) Pharma industry had about 14% growth in 2002, with exports of USD 1.75 billion. The industry is a net exporter having 8% market share (in volume terms) of the USD 340 billion global markets. It is rapidly restructuring to the post-2005 product patent regime.
