With Childhood Obesity Reaching Alarming Levels a Local Summer Youth Camp Aims to ReIntroduce Children to The Joys of Recreat

Enerkids is a new program in downtown Jersey City New Jersey aimed at re-introducing children to active lifestyles. Overseen and designed by certified counselors and educators, the program is custom-tailored to its participants aged 5-12. Children spend a good portion of the day in local parks and venues.

With childhood obesity reaching alarming levels, it is essential that children learn the importance of adopting and maintaining active, healthy lifestyles. Enerkids seeks to accomplish this goal by providing children with fun, recreational and energetic activities. Each of the program 's counselors have extensive experience working with children and their backgrounds range from athletic directors to early education teachers. All are CPR/First Aid certified and have undergone complete criminal background checks and drug testing. The combined experiences make for an exciting and constantly evolving program.

Children will meet at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in downtown Jersey City and will spend time at local area parks and venues. The program is running from June 23rd through August 30th. With extended hours, the program recognizes the needs of working parents. Parents have the option of dropping their children off at 8:00 am instead of the 9:00 am standard start time and picking up their children at 6:00 pm instead of the normal 5:00 pm pick up time. Space is limited and those wishing to enroll their children should do so as quickly as possible.
