New Summer School Program Designed to Save School Districts Money by Offering Courses Online

March 8, 2005 -- Global Student Network has developed a summer school study program that reduces public, private and charter summer school budgets. Typically, summer school programs are prohibitively expensive to operate. In addition to normal teachers' salaries and benefits, schools have to heat/cool buildings, pay utilities, and provide maintenance & security staff along with additional support personnel.

The Global Student Network Virtual Curriculum allows Charter, Private and Public School Districts to teach online courses at a fraction of the traditional costs. Since the curriculum is delivered entirely over the internet, the students can engage in normal summer activities such a family vacations, sports, and travel, and at the same time continue their education. Schools benefit by being able to employ their existing teaching staff on a supplemental, per student basis. Their only limitation is their ability to access the Internet. Don Posson, VP of Technology and Operations, states, "This online program can greatly reduce the fiscal impact of summer school programs on a school's budget, while also allowing more students to participate."

The Global Student Network Program uses technology to better serve students that have difficulty learning through traditional methods. Studies have shown that some students benefit with the ability to study independently, with positive educational support. These students develop independent thinking skills, show improved scores on standardized tests, and more importantly, have a higher level of success in college, and employment.

While there are increasing numbers of virtual online alternative school providers, Global Student Network's curriculum offers many benefits above and beyond current online courses.

· Global's Virtual Online 3rd - 12th grade curriculum is designed for both the at home student, and also schools looking to cut costs on summer programs and the cost of teaching the non traditional student.
· Curriculum is delivered entirely over the Internet, cutting overhead costs.
· Very low start up costs.
· Allows schools to offer courses that otherwise might not be available, due to budget constraints.
· Assists students in completing transitional work - (i.e. Elementary to Middle School requirements, or Middle School to High School requirements.)

Global student Network has designed an alternative educational system aligned to National Standards and also to any state standard.
