8211; With the Back-to-School season closing in, Together We Can Change the World, Inc's8217;s latest E-book in the company's8217;s Change the World Series offers some suggestions on how
churches can help make the transition from summer vacation to the classroom easier for families with school-aged children.
Entitled 101 Ways Your Church Can Change the World, numbers 17-19 specifically target the Back-to-School season. The e-book suggests churches consider the following:
--Setting up a Back-to-School Emergency Fund for low income families by taking donations throughout the year and making grants for worthy families to purchase clothing and school
supplies.
--Collecting gently used out-grown or no longer needed uniforms in areas where the school district has a uniform dress code and making them available to families in the church or their
neighbors who may need help.
--Starting an informal after-school drop-in center in the social hall where kids can come to get help with their homework, play games and be with other kids.
The E-book also features ideas ranging from the very simple to the more complex. The simpler suggestions include merely acknowledging kindness, expressing gratitude and reading bible
stories to children. More involved ideas include organizing a parking lot revival or holding a Faith Walk.
's8220;Having been a member and leader in churches all my life, I know that sometimes we do the same things over and over again just because they's8217;ve worked in the past,'s8221; said
author Sandi Valentine. 's8220;I remember always being 's8216;on the prowl's8217; for new ideas-new ways of reaching out and making a difference.'s8221;
The E-book also offers up ideas specifically geared towards men, women and youth. It also suggests ways to put a different spin on traditional ministries such as taking the planting of a
church flowerbed one step further by making simple bouquets when the flowers bloom and taking them to someone who is homebound or in the hospital.
's8220;I found what excited people and motivated some people in the church didn's8217;t challenge or inspire others,'s8221; Valentine said. 's8220;I hope this e-book will prove helpful in
sparking new, fun and effective ways for your church to reach out to a hurting world.'s8221;
Church members can also take part in Together We Can Change the World Day by gathering members the first Saturday each month.
's8220;Find a local project in progress, use one or more of these 101 ideas or decide one of your own, but BE the difference in your community each month,'s8221; Valentine said.
Not all of the ideas involve volunteering for ministries, some give ways to support the church financially. One way to improve stewardship is to have members do all of their online
shopping at the church's8217;s very own customized Shop For Charity Day Mall. The mall, which is setup and maintained at no-cost, has nearly 1,000 stores and every purchase made brings
money back to the church.
