SpiritOfAtlantacom Receives Overwhelming Welcome at Launch Reception Provides Entertainment and Inf

January 19, 2005 -- SpiritOfAtlanta.com debuted on January 7th with an in-depth interview with Rev. Marlin Harris, pastor of New Life Baptist Church in Lithonia, which operates the New Life Community Center in South Dekalb County. Also interviewed for the website's debut was recording artist Cecil Thornton of Cecil Thornton & Transparent and the phenomenal 18-year old Rev. Darrell Hall of Elizabeth Baptist Church in Atlanta.

SpiritOfAtlanta.com features news articles of interest to the Christian community, promotional contests, a calendar of upcoming events, church directory, financial guidance, employment listings, and a Church Locator search feature that will help site visitors find a place of worship that matches their preferences. The renowned Dr. Sherry Gaither, leadership expert and professor at Beulah Heights Bible College, writes a weekly advice column. Noted author N.S. Allen writes music and book reviews for the website.

Referring to the staff, Music and Arts Editor Tanya Greene-Ricks said, "I'm just so thrilled about the talented people that are lending their gifts to the community through this website. These are the most recognizable names in [Atlanta's Christian community], the best of the best. It doesn't get any better than this."

Planners say SpiritOfAtlanta.com will reach an estimated 250,000 viewers in its first year. "The website will be the 'Access Atlanta' of the Christian community. SpiritOfAtlanta.com is going to be the primary source of information and entertainment for Atlanta-area Christians," said Executive Editor Le Tascia A. La Rue. Also the founder of Atlanta Christian Business Solutions, La Rue said that the diverse community, comprised of many different denominations, needed a medium that would reflect Christian interests.

La Rue, who relocated to Atlanta in 2001, decided to build the site after experiencing difficulty finding a place of worship that suited her personal needs. Even after finally finding the right church, she noticed that there was a disconnect between Christians of different denominations. "We're like cousins in a big family that don't know anything about each other," La Rue says.
