Kona Couple to Start Ministry for Children Affected by the Ice Epidemic on the Big Island of Hawaii
On the Big Island of Hawaii a couple has begun a ministry targeting the children of those addicted to Ice. With hopes of offering food, clothing and support to the children who have been removed from the parents by child protective services, or whose parents are in jail. Following their calling to serve the community in a "spirit filled" way the couple has begun the ministries of "Makalapua O Nanea".
Kailua-Kona, HI January 4, 2006 -- The Ice epidemic continues and the children suffer. Ice (crystal methamphetamine) affects more than just the user; children throughout the Island are
also afflicted. Makalapua O Nanea was begun to offer these children aid.
Following their calling a Big Island couple is forming a new ministry "Makalapua O Nanea" (to bloom forth with peace and tranquility) in association with Hope Chapel Kailua-Kona. Their
mission is to aid the Big Island children afflicted by the Ice epidemic by offering food, clothing and possibly scholarships to the Big Islands Christian Schools.
Funding will be entirely by private donations, fundraisers and proceeds from the couples Christian web sites ( http://www.withinhisgrace.com ) and several other Christian Family based web
sites currently being developed.
"We believe we have been called, it is now our duty" says Michael Perry, who along with his wife Laura had the vision to begin Makalapua O Nanea. We are here to outreach to our community,
"To Build A Bridge To Our Community, So That Jesus Can Walk Across".
