The annual Leighton Hall Historic Vehicle Show takes place at the home of Mr and Mrs Gillow Reynolds, on Sunday 9th July 2006 from 10am 's8211; 4pm.
Individual enthusiasts proudly displaying their fabulous classic cars, will be joined by many car clubs (including the Morris Minor Owners Club and Morecambe Bay Classic Bike Club) for a
day of motoring nostalgia amongst the trade stands, exhibits and auto jumble.
Wonderfully restored cars ranging from early Model T fords (1911), magnificent Rolls Royce's8217;s, Jaguars and Sunbeams, sit alongside breath taking Aston Martins, as well as old
favourites like Vauxhall, Minis and Morris Minors. They's8217;ll be appearances by vintage tractors and stationery engines as well a big selection of MGs driving through the gates, dating
from pre-war right up the 1970's8217;s.
The cars are positioned perfectly on the terrace at the front of the hall, whilst a good selection of pre and post war motorbikes, grace the surrounding lawns.
Now in its 8th year, this hugely popular event gives patrons chance to really get up close to these wonderful vehicles, whilst the enthusiasts get to dust off their 's8220;pride and
joys's8221; and drive them to the show. Nearly 3,000 visitors came to last years show to talk to the enthusiasts, stroll through Leighton's8217;s beautiful gardens and watch the special
arena events.
With commentary from Tim Holt, organiser of the Cumbria Steam Gathering, a selection of the vintage vehicles will be driven round the arena area, at various times in the afternoon.
This is one of 18 events being organised by Woodward Automotives this year. Mark Woodward, the shows organiser said, 's8220;I always look forward to this particular show. The magnificent
Leighton Hall is the perfect backdrop for all the beautifully restored cars. It's8217;s very easy to find and all the vehicles look fantastic driving down through the parkland. It's8217;s
a bit like stepping back in time, seeing the classic cars parked outside the house!'s8221;
Admission includes access to Leighton's8217;s grounds, gardens, parkland and birds of prey aviaries. House tours are available as well as light refreshments from Leighton's8217;s charming
