Chaminade University of Honolulu, the only Catholic college in Hawaii, is the 50th State'ss first member of the Tuition Rewards college enrollment marketing consortium.
Often known on the mainland for what is considered to be the biggest upset in college basketball history, 77-72 over #1-ranked University of Virginia, with 7-foot-5 Ralph Sampson, in
1982, Chaminade provides a rich educational experience where people grow professionally, intellectually and spiritually. Chaminade offers one of the nation'ss most diverse campus
populations and a student-to-faculty ratio of 16-to-1.
Chaminade'ss signature programs are forensic sciences and interior design. The school also specializes in biosciences / pre-med, business, communication, criminal justice, education,
environmental studies, psychology and religious studies degree programs. A state-of-the-art school of nursing is slated to open in the fall of 2010. Top students can apply for selection
in the inter-disciplinary Hogan Entrepreneurial Program, open to students from all undergraduate majors.
Ingredients of a Chaminade education include close involvement with professors and classmates, a supportive campus atmosphere, a vibrant campus life, opportunities to contribute to
society while still in school and multi-cultural awareness and understanding. Chaminade is nationally recognized for its service-learning programs.
Chaminade is the 6th college to join Tuition Rewards in 2009, following Eastern Mennonite University (VA), Lycoming College (PA), Ohio Northern University, Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute (NY), and Taylor University (IN). 58 Catholic colleges are members of Tuition Rewards.
There'ss no downside for a college. It doesn'st cost a college anything and most will gain additional, well-qualified students, declared Dr. James B. Johnston, chairman and CEO of SAGE
Scholars. The short-term enrollment consequences of the current economic malaise demand creative and aggressive marketing strategies, and our Tuition Rewards Consortium is just that. An
almost perfect storm of economic turmoil and unfavorable demographic trends make participation in the Tuition Rewards Consortium more important than ever.
143,000+ students are now enrolled in Tuition Rewards, which fosters a dynamic relationship among families, financial institutions and its 230 member colleges. 30,351 students joined in
2008, more than double the 2007 total (14,571).
When registered students attend a participating private college, the family'ss accumulated Tuition Reward points may be redeemed as a scholarship - a non-need based grant or discount -
capped at one full year'ss tuition spread over four years. Families earn Tuition Rewards by saving for college with a variety of financial partners, including the Pennsylvania and
Wisconsin state 529 college savings programs, First Midwest Bank, Mutual of Omaha, SEFCU (NY) and The College Tuition Benefit.
30 colleges and universities have become Tuition Reward members in the past 13 months.
About SAGE Scholars:
Founded in 1995, SAGE markets its member colleges to the 140,000+ enrolled students and their families via its website, email and a weekly e-newsletter. Member colleges may contact
students once they reach 9th grade at no charge. Tuition Rewards is now the largest U.S. private college savings program -- based on participating students and value of eligible assets.
