Carbonite, Inc., announced today a partnership with Ipswitch, Inc., a leading developer of network management, secure file transfer and messaging solutions, through which Carbonite's easy-to-use and affordable online backup service will be offered to Ipswitch customers. Anyone who buys Ipswitch's WS_FTP Home file transfer client will get four months of Carbonite's online backup service free of charge for a limited time.
"With so much of our lives now on our PCs, everybody is vulnerable to crashed disks, theft, damage, and accidental deletions," says Carbonite co-founder and CEO David Friend. "Almost
everyone has a horror story about lost professional files, financial records, emails and personal files such as family photos. Carbonite removes all these worries for just $50 per year,
with unlimited capacity, and it's really simple."
Ipswitch's WhatsUp Gold product allows IT managers to quickly and efficiently monitor IT networks; the company's WS_FTP file transfer solution is currently the industry's most advanced
file transfer product and is the de facto standard with over 40 million users worldwide, and its IMail Server product provides technology managers with an easily installed and
simple-to-use messaging and collaboration solution.
"Carbonite offers our customers the easiest, most simple and affordable method of protecting the irreplaceable contents of their computers," said Gary Shottes, VP of sales for Ipswitch.
"By partnering with Carbonite we are continuing to offer ways for our customers to keep their vital data and infrastructure secure."
Carbonite recently marked the one-year anniversary of its PC backup service by backing up its billionth file. The company's customers - in more than 80 countries around the world - have
been able to recover nearly 100 million digital photos, documents, emails and other files that otherwise would have been lost forever.
