King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) (http://www.kaust.edu.sa/about/default.aspx), is inaugurating a new program that will provide a significant source of support to, and collaboration with, leading scientific research centers (http://www.kaust.edu.sa/research/global-partnership.aspx) is targeted to have a budget of up to approximately $1 billion over the next 10 years for institutions and individual investigators conducting advanced research in the areas of science and technology that are important to Saudi Arabia, the region, and the world.

to Saudi Arabia, the region, and the world.
"The Global Research Partnership is a vital undertaking for KAUST, one that will begin now even as the university's physical campus is being constructed," said His Excellency Minister Ali
Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
Minister Al-Naimi also pointed out that the GRP is a cornerstone of KAUST's strategy to build the University's intellectual capital.
The GRP is funded through KAUST's multi-billion dollar endowment, which will provide reliable support to all aspects of the University's operation in perpetuity and will be managed by an
independent Board of Trustees.
The focus of the GRP's research will be on topics identified by KAUST, including its impact on the development of future knowledge-based industries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the
Kingdom's social and economic needs, and its potential regional and international impact.
These research focus areas will be reflected in the KAUST Research Institutes (www.kaust.edu.sa.
