Qumranet Global Sponsor of KVM Adds Kernel Developer

Qumranet, a leading provider of virtual computing solutions, announced today that Andrea Arcangeli has joined the company as kernel developer.

Credited for having completely rewritten and stabilized the virtual memory subsystem in the 2.4 Linux kernel, the 31-year old Arcangeli previously worked with SUSE Linux (later Novell) since 1999 maintaining many parts of the Linux kernel.

"Andrea is one of those rare individuals who combines a real gift for technology with a passion for his work," said Benny Schnaider, Qumranet's CEO and co-founder. "We welcome him to the team."

Arcangeli started working with Linux in his spare time in 1996 while studying at Bologna University in Italy.

"The first time I saw what the Qumranet and KVM developers were doing, a light went off in my head and I thought 'yes, THIS is the way,'" said Arcangeli. "I look forward to adding my ability to this project."
