Commercial Flooring Systems Weathers Economic StormEnds Up on Top



Amidst the stormy economic environment, a handful of Austin-area companies, are not just weathering the storm but navigating its channels with a confident attitude and a proven formula for success. Commercial Flooring Systems, one of the largest providers of flooring products and installation services in Central Texas, began this year by adjusting their overhead by 28 percent. However, Scott Coll, president of the company projects a 15 percent resurgent in overall growth in his business and expects to add several new administrative and field staff members by the end of the year.



As a commercial subcontractor we experienced some of the downturn in the economy. Like most companies, streamlining our operations and cutting costs was important, said Coll. Now that we have recalibrated, we are recovering quickly and looking to invest in critical team members, ramp up our community relations budget and reward our employees who are going the extra mile.



New projects for Commercial Flooring Systems include some of the largest recent construction projects in Austin: University of Texas Jester Dormitory Renovation, One West Bank Regional Headquarters and the Austonian. The company has also completed work on projects for the Sony Online Games, Google, Dimensional Funds Headquarters and Lance Armstrong Foundation headquarters.



We looked at everything from office supplies to inventory controls, and through a lot of hard work and some sacrifices, made the adjustment we needed, continues Coll. Undertaking these business corrections helped to maintain financial viability and secure multimillion dollar projects.
