Scoopy Poo announced today it is launching a new "Adopt-A-Condo" contest to give dog owners who live in Twin Cities high-rise condominium complexes a chance to nominate their condo building to receive one free clean sweep removal of doggie doo from their building's grounds.
The contest was created to increase awareness around the importance of keeping small spaces shared by multiple dogs free and clear of dog waste for the health and safety of dogs and
humans.
"Households with one dog and a large yard are at risk of spreading disease. Imagine the grounds of condominium complexes with multiple dogs! While most dog owners are very conscientious,
the occasional poop can get left behind from time to time. When multiple owners aren't picking up everything in one small space, that's when infectious bacteria finds its opportunity to
spread."
Types of infectious bacteria include salmonella and giardia, both of which can be deadly to humans. Dog waste can also contain parasites such as tapeworms and roundworms, which are
dangerous to humans and dogs alike.
Scoopy Poo recognizes and respects dog owners responsibility to manage poo pickup themselves on a daily basis. The company offers condominium complexes a clean sweep -- a safety check
that helps minimize the spread of dog waste and all that goes along with it.
"Dirty grounds can also be a nuisance for building residents who don't have dogs. Clean grounds also keep the peace," Tengdin added.
To nominate a condo, entrants must be a current resident of a condominium building located within the I494/I694 loop of the Twin Cities Metro area that has five or more dogs in residence.
Nominations are being accepted between July 1 and July 27, 2008 online and via U.S. Mail. For complete rules and address, interested parties can visit: http://www.scoopypoo.net/contest. Four winners will be chosen and each will be notified the week of July 28. Scooping will begin in August.
