On Thursday, April 30th 6-9 p.m., DrinkUpNY (www.DrinkUpNY.com) will host Absinthe in April, a unique tasting event offering samples of a wide range of absinthes currently available in the United States. Held at the East Village'ss Bourgeois Pig, a venue that evokes absinthe'ss colorful, romantic history, this will be an intimate event celebrating the sensationalized spirit. Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to meet numerous distillers to discuss their process and inspiration. With a wide array of absinthe available, this tasting will allow for a fascinating comparison of differing styles and interpretations.
Some of the absinthe producers confirmed to be in attendance are Gwydion Stone of Marteau, Lance Winters of St. George, Bryan Alex of Obsello and Robert Cassell of Vieux Carre. This will
be a truly unique opportunity for anyone interested in absinthe, whether you'sre already a connoisseur or just want to learn more, says Kamal Mukherjee, founder of DrinkUpNY. Mukherjee
anticipates that most of the absinthe in the New York market--including Duplais, Jade Nouvelle-Orleans, La Clandestine, La Fee, La Muse Verte, Lucid, Mansinthe, Marteau, Obsello,
Pacifique, Vieux Carre, and Vieux Pontarlier--will be available to attendees for sampling.
Since tickets have become available, many of the limited spaces have been filled; buzz on dedicated absinthe websites like The Wormwood Society (www.wormwoodsociety.org) and F's233;e Verte (www.feeverte.net) has already inspired absinthe enthusiasts from
many states to secure their spots. Tickets are priced at $50 and can be purchased through DrinkUpNY.com by clicking on the upcoming special events button. Due to venue restrictions, no
tickets will be sold at the door. The Bourgeois Pig is located at 111 E. 7th Street in Manhattan. Attendees must be 21 or over with proof of age. Questions should be directed to
