Increasing Number Of Families Buying The Thanksgiving Meal Leaving...

More Thanksgiving hosts are providing the great tastes and rich aromas of the big feast without the hours, even days, of grueling cooking. With the new-found time gained by purchasing the complete turkey feast or just supplementing with a few pre-prepared items, they're finding more quality time to share with friends and loved ones.

More than half of Americans have takeout items from restaurants for part of their Thanksgiving feasts, says the National Restaurant Association. And according to data from market research group, the NPD Group, at least 6 percent of consumers will buy complete, pre-made Thanksgiving dinners from a restaurant, caterer, grocery store or bake-at-home meal store.

Super Suppers, one of the nation's leading companies offering Take n' Bake meals, is meeting the demand of consumers looking to enjoy the spoils of the succulent feast but escape the drudgery of the kitchen.

"More people today are wanting to relax and truly enjoy their holidays rather than spending hours or days in the kitchen for an hour our two of enjoyment at the dinner table," says Super Suppers founder Judie Byrd. "We provide a big helping hand by providing the full meal that everyone will love. With that major item checked off the list, families can reconnect, visit and really spend quality time with one another."

With one easy phone call or online visit, consumers can order the traditional Thanksgiving meal for 12 with all the favorite fixings, from Super Suppers. A Thanksgiving meal from Super Suppers stands apart from the typical take-home meal. You can heat or bake each dish at your own convenience, filling your house with the inviting aromas of the holiday season. The result is a hot, fresh meal that your guests will think took you hours to prepare.

For about $140-$150, depending on location, the special Super Suppers Thanksgiving meal for 12 includes:

-    8-10 pounds of juicy, boneless turkey breast with no carving required

-    Our festive cornbread or tamale stuffing (varies by store location)

-    Herbed gravy

-    Candied sweet potatoes

-    Classic Green Bean Casserole

-    Mashed Potato Casserole

-    Cranberry Compote

-    Dinner rolls

-    Double Crust Apple Cranberry Cobbler

What to do when your meal is warming and the little ones are becoming antsy with holiday excitement Byrd shares her favorite Thanksgiving activities for kids:

1. Create Pilgrim hats for favors. Cut the bottom out of a 10-ounce paper cup (this will be the top of the hat and will be open). Cover the outside of the cup with black construction paper; glue the paper in place. To make the brim, cut a black circle about inch larger than the wide mouthed top of the cup. Center this part of the cup on the brim, and glue them together (this will be the bottom of the hat where the head usually fits, but it will be closed.) Cut white paper inch wide to fit the cup for the band; glue it next to the brim. Fill the hats with popcorn for children to eat or use them as favors at the table.

2. Design place mats by cutting brown craft paper or grocery sacks into 13-by-18-inch rectangles. Fringe the edges of all four sides of the paper with scissors. Draw designs on each mat.

3. Have younger children make a picture book to show their thanks. Fold four pieces of 8 -by-11inch colored construction paper in half. Staple the folded edges together. Children can draw pictures with crayons or cut out and paste magazine pictures on the pages to show what they are thankful for.

Once the delicious food is ready, take time to give thanks and build your own family traditions around the table. According to Byrd, these tips can make your family holiday even more meaningful:

1. Begin the tradition called Five Kernels of Corn. Place five kernels of corn at each person's place setting. Before dinner begins, explain to your family and guests that the Pilgrims faced many trials and even starvation. These five kernels represent the hardship and suffering of the Pilgrims and the times when this was all they had to eat. Go around the table and have each person say five things he or she is thankful for, holding up a kernel for each blessing.

2. Have everyone write his or her blessings in a remembrance book on Thanksgiving Day. (Stationary and greeting card stores sell blank journals that would be nice.) Younger children will enjoy dictating what they are thankful for. Each Thanksgiving, read the lists from previous years. It's fun for children to recall what they were thankful for in years past.

3. Invite a college student or single friend over for Thanksgiving. A new family in the neighborhood or friend without family nearby would welcome an invitation.

4. Fix a take-out plate of your dinner goodies to deliver to a homebound neighbor or friend.
