Mr. Beams Announces the Show Us Your Darkest Places Contest

Mr. Beams has launched seven portable home light fixtures that produce bright light without wires. For the first time, consumers can adequately light any dark space in and around their homes without extensive installation or without running electrical wires.

To celebrate the launch of its seven new products, Mr. Beams announces the "Show Us Your Darkest Places" contest. Starting in June, 2008 Mr. Beams will choose three spaces submitted to the "Show Us Your Darkest Places" contest and will send a bright Mr. Beams motion activated light fixture to perfectly illuminate these darkest areas. To enter, go to Mr. Beams website (http://www.mrbeams.com) and send pictures of your darkest places in and around your home along with a brief story of why you need to light the area. Mr. Beams will post before and after photos on it's website following the contest.

Mr. Beams has taken the benefits of light-emitting diodes (LED's) one step further. All of the Mr. Beams fixtures are battery operated and can be attached anywhere in under five minutes without an electrician. Most Mr. Beams' fixtures have an annual operating cost under four dollars because all of the fixtures utilize motion sensor activation to conserve battery life. When motion is detected, the light turns on; when the activation-time setting has expired, the light will turn off. The Mr.Beams product line includes the weatherproof Spotlight and Stair Light, and indoor Closet Light, Sconce and Mini Spotlight.

LED's have numerous favorable advantages over conventional incandescent light bulbs. LED's do not have a filament that will burn out, so they can last up to 50,000 hours or more. There no moveable parts, so LED's are incredibly durable when dropped. The main advantage of LED's are they are energy efficient and use 80-90% less energy when producing the same amount of light as an incandescent bulb. This efficiency allows Mr. Beams to use batteries and still get years of use between battery replacements.
