Eric Welch and TobyMac Alive and Transported on The Big Screen

Just like TobyMac's legendary live performances, award-winning director Eric Welch's Alive and Transported concert film is an electrifying success.

Released in over 100 theaters in 87 cities for special one-night-only screenings, the June 9 performances were attended by sold-out crowds in nearly 35 states.

"The initial response from the DVD was fantastic, but it's great to watch fans' reaction to Toby's show in a larger than life experience," says director Welch.

Starting with the Nashville VIP premiere, Toby and his band attended screenings in Oklahoma City and Houston as the film hit theaters across the country. In each city, Toby greeted fans eager to share their excitement about the film.

"Seeing people sing along in theaters is definitely a unique experience," says TobyMac. "Eric and his team have done an excellent job of capturing our live show and bringing it to the fans."

Alive and Transported, released in stores May 27 in a DVD/CD set, documents TobyMac's Portable Sounds tour from 2007 in stunning High Definition. It also marks the ten-year anniversary of Welch's Broken Poet Productions, the company he started a decade ago while working on another TobyMac project, dcTalk's Welcome To the Freakshow.

"Making this project was a very special experience," states TobyMac's manager Dan Pitts. "Seeing Toby's show on the big screen marks a distinct moment in time for Toby, and the passion Eric and Broken Poet Productions brought to the project shows in every frame of the film."

The DVD and theater release both feature current and classic hits from the TobyMac catalog, such as "Slam,"Made to Love,"Burn For You,"Gone" and "Diverse City." With fifteen cameras and a sell out crowd, the GMA 2008 Artist of the Year and four-time Grammy winner's performance leaps off the screen.

Welch continues to create compelling live concerts across a myriad of genres and formats, including projects for artists such as Ben Folds, Mercy Me, and Rhonda Vincent. His music videos have garnered multiple nominations and awards, including his recent ACM nomination for Rodney Atkins. He is currently in production on videos for GMA Female Vocalist of the Year Natalie Grant, Rodney Atkins, and former Trick Pony vocalist Heidi Newfield.
