The International Bluegrass Association's World of Bluegrass convention makes its move to Nashville, Tennessee next week hosting a Business Conference, Awards Show and FanFest that includes a stellar line-up of performers. In honor of this relocation, Tower Records is hosting the following national touring bluegrass bands for in-store performances and autograph signings at 2400 West End Avenue, Nashville, TN. Performers include: Michelle Nixon & Drive, Blue Moon Rising, Lou Reid and Carolina, Audie Blaylock & Redline, Kenny and Amanda Smith Band and 3 Fox Drive. Wednesday, October 26th
6:00 pm - Virginia-based bluegrass band Michelle Nixon & Drive kicks off these special bluegrass performances performing songs from their new Pinecastle Records album, "What More Should I Say." This project is currently very popular around the U.S., recently making it's debut on Billboard Magazine's Bluegrass Top Album Chart. The single from the CD, "I Know Rain" is also now the #8 Top 10 Country Music Single in Austria and the #15 Top Country Single in Holland as they continue to gain fans around the world. Nixon leads this highly energetic group providing her soulful lead vocals and songwriting talents. The new project also includes a duet with the legendary country performer and songwriter, Bill Anderson on his original tune, "Slippin Away." 6:30 pm - New Lonesome Day Records artist, Blue Moon Rising will be performing songs from their critically acclaimed new album "On the Rise." The album and singles from this CD are climbing the Americana, Roots and Bluegrass Charts including Billboard Magazine's Bluegrass Top Album Chart, Roots Music Report to name a few. They have also just received the #1 and #3 Top singles spots on BluegrassRadio.org charts. The album has been credited with being one of the best bluegrass albums released this year, so fans do not want to miss this performance. 7:00 pm - Rounding up this evening's performances, fans will also get a special treat by the legendary Lou Reid and Carolina. The band's new Lonesome Day Records album "Time" has been an instant hit around the world in the bluegrass and Americana markets. The title cut "Time" is now scheduled for release to country radio stations where it is sure to be a hit. Well-respected Nashville journalist, Robert Oermann recently reviewed Time stating, "This tender meditation on aging is the title tune and centerpiece of Reid's new collection. I hope it becomes a major success. It's a measure of this guy's stature in the music community that his album includes contributions from the likes of Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Jerry Douglas and Randy Kohrs." 4:30 pm 8211; This year's IBMA Emerging Artists of the Year Nominee, Audie Blaylock & Redline will kick off Saturday, October 29th performances. Blaylock is also up for two more IBMA awards for his participation in the Grammy 8482; nominated album, "A Tribute to Jimmy Martin: The King of Bluegrass" in IBMA s "Album of the Year" and "Recorded Event of the Year" categories. Audie Blaylock and Sonya Isaacs will be co-presenters at the IBMA Awards Show delivering the Instrumental Album of the Year and Banjo Player of the Year awards. Blaylock began his career as one of Jimmy Martin's Sunny Mountain Boys and later went on to join Rhonda Vincent and the Rage for many years before forming his own band in 2004. 5:00 pm The Kenny and Amanda Smith Band, who were recipients of the 2003 IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year Award will be performing songs from their newest album, "Always Never Enough" the band's second Rebel Records release. The band recently made their debut on the Grand Ole Opry. Some might remember Kenny from his days touring with the Lonesome River Band - or perhaps his numerous Guitar Player of the Year Awards given to him by the International Bluegrass Music Association and The Society of Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America.
